Now my master project have been going on for more than a year, and it has been an long and hard proses. But at the same time it have been very interesting and I have learned allot about my project and about myself.

During the first year I have become much more aware of the growing amount of information overload  in our modern life. We have so manny choices that it’s silly, and even becoming a burden. And this is having a big impact on the human brain. I will wright more about this in my next post.

Therefore my master project is now about how I as a visual communicator can do something with this information overload. I tried to find places where I could get advise about how I could reduce the big piles of information that I have to communicate for a client, but all I found were how I as a user could deal wit it.

This is why I now set out to make a webpage that is meant to be a guide to other designers who have too deal wit communicating information. The project consist of developing tools that you can use in your project proses to cut away information, and have good arguments for why you do it for your client. A strong focus on the user is in the center of the project.

And now we finally have peace, just one remote and no slow and hard to use menus. And we still get TV signals even though the city were full of posters that told us that the old signals would go down last year?!?!

I have taken an iPod and made its controls like TV producers makes their remote.

As you can see every function has their own button, this means that every function is just one button press away. Amazing! There is even a area on the bottom where settings can be hidden and exposed by a sliding part. This thing looks amazing and is has so many functions, it must be a great product. Just se how much it can do.

I don’t think the iPod would have been around today if it were like this.

I would be really happy if you would right down a list of the best and worst things with TV remotes.

I just started with my pilote project for my master, and as a part of this I am colecting symbols from warius machines and categorising them.

Take for example the volume controls, why are there so many variations for such an easy thing? They all represent the same action whit different symbols and shapes. Some more unlogical than others. Take for instants the two dots on the right side, Is the full circle more or is the empty circle more?

Why is it like this? Why can’t they all use just one type of standard shape/symbol? 

Can you tell me why? Or would you like to tell me witch symbol you think is the best?

Today I came over this picture of a parking ticket machine that has annoyed an user so much, that the user have modified the machine to make it better.
